Your knees are so weak that they bend. You feel the ache that lives in your throat and can’t muster up another word. Your absence screams loudly and you cover your ears to muffle the sound. Then you’re forced to crawl and everyone starts asking why you can’t just stand up. You beg them to look away because it’s better than having everyone look down at you. You’re reaching for the dust. Bruised palms. Breaking bones. It’s okay to let your body fall to the floor, but promise yourself to get back up when you’re ready. -AMT©️
