Until then, I’ll watch the sun take a bow and let the moon steal the show for a while.

The animals knew to turn away from the sun when it reached too close to the earth. Maybe it was only meant for human eyes. I wish I was holy. I wish I could hold every bird that flew for the last time and stop every bug that reached for a sinister light. Pull the deer back from innocently running towards the highway and let every spider tucked away in the corner find their way home. I’d tell them all that heaven is much better, but give them a chance to live. And I think if they could see through darkness then they’d try to save us without questioning it. Until then, I’ll watch the sun take a bow and let the moon steal the show for a while. I’ll breathe in the cool air like every other living thing and decide to be as gentle as the birds screaming in excitement. To be as free as the deer bursting through the thicket. To be as caring as bugs kissing the wind. To be as comforted as the spiders finding warmth again. I’ll find peace within the pieces of the world that make it glow like the sun, even when darkness sets in. -AMT©️
